DECA Project
In MKTG 384 (Integrated Marketing Communications), I developed a semester-long IMC campaign for White Oak Lavender Farm. This project allowed me to apply key IMC concepts—such as advertising, direct marketing, digital and social media strategy—into a cohesive, client-focused campaign. My team and I conducted in-depth market research to better understand our target audience of millennial moms. We then created a campaign theme, “Where Lavender Grows, Stress Fades,” which we carried across all promotional channels, including social media, email marketing, and retail events. We utilized tools like Canva and iMovie to design creative elements. This experience sharpened my ability to create a consistent brand message across all channels. Our campaign earned 1st place overall across all class sections, and we were also awarded Best Cover Page and Best Commercial—both of which I personally designed and produced. I was also voted MVP by my team.
During my sophomore and junior years of high school, I co-founded and led Acts of One, a year-long community awareness project that we competed internationally with through DECA, a business club. The initiative focused on spreading kindness and raising awareness for mental health in Northern Virginia. Alongside two classmates, we organized 16 events across Loudoun County, partnering with organizations like the Inova Kellar Center. Rooted in the belief that "one small act can make one big difference," our campaign featured film-inspired branding and used the color green to represent mental health awareness and we used the “acts” of a movie.
Over the course of two years, Acts of One reached more than 100,000 people worldwide and raised $2,000 to support mental health resources. This project was especially meaningful to me—not only because of the impact we made through the events, but because so many people personally shared their stories with me and expressed how our efforts truly made a difference in their lives.
During my senior year of high school, I co-created and implemented The No Place Like H.O.P.E. project, a year-long community giving project focused on supporting homeless youth in Loudoun County. Partnering with the local nonprofit Mobile Hope, my team and I organized 12 events aimed at raising awareness, funds, and inspiring others to take action. Our original fundraising goal was $3,000—but we exceeded it, raising $13,800 in total. Our efforts helped shelter 100 youth, contributed 859 hours of service, donated 103 food items, and gathered 450 handwritten letters of encouragement. Inspired by The Wizard of Oz, our campaign reflected the lessons learned throughout our journey. The initiative reached over 18,000 people and earned 3rd place internationally at DECA’s International competition.
